About

  1. Discuss with your child some goals you’d like to accomplishment together. Some examples for school readiness are:
    • Using the bathroom without assistance
    • Dressing themselves
    • Putting clothes away
    • Washing hands without constant reminders
    • Putting on shoes
    • Putting away dishes
    • Eating lunch within 15-20 minutes and putting food back in the lunchbox when finished
    • Practicing opening food containers and items with assistance
  2. Keep track of their goals using the I Can Do It! Goal Tracker.
  3. When your child completes a goal, decorate a I Can Do It! Badge to celebrate and display their achievement!
  4. Keep going for as many goals as you need to get your child school ready!

Tips:
• Praise effort and perseverance to keep children trying!
• Normalize mistakes: Let your child see you make mistakes and work through them. This helps them understand that it’s okay to not get things right on the first try.
• Set developmentally appropriate goals for success! Talk to your doctor or teacher about what are some goals you can set together for your child.
