Math iQ

About
math iQ is a program that uses innovative approaches to teach math to pre-K kids. Math anxiety begins at a young age, but math is a necessary and important educational discipline. This program has 8 math lessons which incorporate the PBS KIDS show, Peg + Cat.
Lessons include: 100 days, counting, addition, fair sharing, directional cues, patterns, measurement, and shapes.
Time allotment: 45 minutes to 1 hour per lesson
Prep for teachers
- Take home letters and activities printed for each child.
- Episode clips projected onto a screen
- iPad or computers ready with the app or online game for the lesson
See facilitator guide for more details on preparation and supplies for each lesson.
Mentoring Program
This program can be used as a standalone program for Pre-K to K learners. It can also be used as a mentoring program with 3rd graders who serve as “math buddies” to the Pre-K/K learners. The curriculum programming for the 3rd graders can be found in the ODD SQUAD collection.
